When we speak of the Dynamic Content Gallery, we are speaking specifically of this part of the front page of your blog, where the Gallery plugin IS enabled:
For this particular example, the plugin is configured to display a slideshow of 5 posts’ images from any of the blog’s categories.
You’ve probably noted already that just by inserting an image into your post it does not automatically display in the dynamic content gallery. That is because that image must be set specifically in the “Add New Post” screen, but only after adding the image to your WordPress blog’s Media Library.
Here’s how to make it all happen:
1. First, ensure your original image is no more than 600 px wide. You can use iPhoto, Photoshop, or any other simple photo editor to accomplish this. Save the image in a place you remember on your computer.
2. Once signed into your WordPress blog, from your Dashboard, go to the menu item Media, then to Add New.
3. When the Upload New Media screen comes up, click Select Files, then navigate to the file on your computer that you’d like to upload as your image to be displayed in the Dynamic Content Gallery. Wait for the upload and “crunch” to happen.
4. When all is complete, you’ll see the screen below. You need to capture the File URL that was assigned to this image you just uploaded. To do this, highlight the entire web address in the File URL space, and copy it to your clipboard (Command + C on a Mac, Control + C on a PC, or just right click on the highlighted area and select Copy). Once you’ve successfully copied the address, you can click Save all Changes on this screen.
5. Now that you have the URL of the image, go back to your blog Post that you were working on (go to Posts in your Dashboard, then in the list of posts available click Edit under the title of the one you were working on).
In the Edit Post screen, look on the right hand side for the Dynamic Content Gallery area, immediately under the Post Tags area. In the Image URL space of the Dynamic Content Gallery area, paste the URL that is copied to your clipboard (Command + V on Mac, Control + V on a PC, or right-click in the space and select Paste), as shown below.
6. You are just about done – just need to test it! Click Update on your post, and visit your site’s home page to see the image in the Dynamic Content Gallery!
Success!
